Condensing steam is the same as boiling water, but a lot safer and easier to manage when kashering countertops and sinks. Yay, Shark Steamers!

And yay, self-cleaning ovens! Now I want self-cleaning refrigerators.

Given that I was flat sick for three days, I am in complete awe of [livejournal.com profile] introverte for somehow getting the house ready for Pesach ahead of schedule. Props! Kudos! Skhoiyach!

Personally, I find eating on the last few days before Pesach is much worse than eating on Pesach. We're trying to finish stuff up, so (for example) breakfast is the bottom of three different boxes of cereal and a granola bar, when what I was really craving was one bowl of raisin bran and an English muffin. Pesach food is tasty and (mostly) nutritious, if you make it yourself.

The kids are really psyched for seders. They have been singing the songs and asking questions for days already. I read through two Haggadot over Shabbat: "The Yeshiva University Hagaddah," which is new to me for this year and which I will use as my table hagaddah -- the Hebrew typography is from the Koren hagaddah, which I adore, the English is excellent and the commentary, though sparse, is insightful. I also reread "The Commentators Hagaddah," which contains many thought-provoking gleanings from many sources; it also has some commentaries that I actively dislike, but there are enough good ideas in there that I find it a good preparatory hagaddah.

And I dug out The Doggerel Hagaddah

Now I go poof, to reappear late Wednesday night. Chag sameach (too late to wish chag kasher v'sameach) and, given the weather forecast for Boston, let's hope Santa lends Elijah the reindeer!
