So, what have I been up to?
Jul. 14th, 2008 09:00 pmBuzzword now offers spell-checking in 19 different languages (well, not quite 19 languages, because that's counting national variants such as US vs UK English, and temporal variants such as pre-1996 and post-1996 German, as separate entries). And I personally wrote all 19 dictionaries. Well, no, of course not, but I did quite a bit of work against a short schedule to implement an efficient spell-checking library in Flash for us to use.
I'm proud of the work that I did, and I'm really excited to have been able to contribute a feature that will make lots of users happy -- and to do so in such a short time after starting at Adobe.

Feeling useful
May. 13th, 2008 04:49 pmThis afternoon we had a spec review, and afterwards the person whose spec we were reviewing expressed that he was pleased with my contributions to the discussion. I proposed a few ideas for resolving some problems that came up, and I suggested a few failure cases that hadn't been considered.
So I really feel like I'm contributing already, which is a wonderful feeling considering that it's only my seventh day on the job.
And I got to have a picnic lunch with H and Alissa today.
