If you've never Googled yourself, you're in the minority. Nearly half the people responding to a new poll said they'd looked themselves up on the Internet search engine.

This is one of those swarm mentalities that I really don't understand. I haven't gotten good search results from Google when I've tried it; I find I do much better with Metacrawler.

The question itself only samples behaviour... I put my name in to *every* new search engine :-) for someone like me, it's a test of the search engine as much as anything. (Intriguingly, a recent check of amazon book search not only found the expected references - but one example where the book included a screen shot of a web page which happenned to mention my name, "proving" that they're doing OCR for at least some books, rather than getting underlying text from the publisher...)
