Wow! They really work!
Dec. 24th, 2007 07:10 amNewton never picked up our recycling on Friday. Yesterday, concerned with the forecast of "heavy rain overnight", I moved the bags of newspaper into our garage. This morning I heard the truck collecting the recycling from across the street, which meant I had about 20 minutes to get our stuff back to the curb for pickup.
And the driveway is completely covered in black ice. Yesterday was over 50 degrees F, so all the snow on the sides of the driveway has been melting, but it's about 30 degrees out now so all the runoff froze. What to do?
I donned my brand new Yaktrax Pros and --- just as they promised --- I was able to walk on this absolutely sheer sheet of black ice with complete sureness of footing at my usual (Nyawker) walking pace. Thanks,
mabfan, for introducing me to these things! (Hey, maybe they should brand an urban version as "Nyawka Wawkas" :-)
My only complaint is that I'm at the upper end of the size range for "Large" and it pinches my toes a little. Perhaps I should have gone with the "Extra Large" even though I wear a 12 1/2 shoe.
