Back from Hunt. (Yes, Michael, and Arisia too, but mostly Hunt.)

Starting to catch up. It will take a while.

Nutshell review of Palindrome's hunt: 'Nuff fun? Yay!

Congratulations to the Evil Midnight Bombers What Bomb at Midnight. Thanks to Palindrome for constructing a fun Hunt. Thanks to Immoral, Illegal, and Fattening for inviting me to solve on the team this year.

I had a great time, largely because I felt that I held my own on the team. I solved one puzzle mostly myself, was part of several successful solving pairs, and made (I think) useful contributions towards a fair number of puzzles. Sure, I also made my share of mistakes, and there were some puzzles that still frustrate me, but there were plenty of "Aha!" moments and that felt good.

Detailed writeup of the weekend will, I hope, follow.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! And we made sure that it ran sufficiently long after sunset on Saturday that you'd have plenty of time to participate. :-)

So . . .

Which puzzle did you solve almost entirely by yourself? There's one puzzle which kind of had your name all over it (in fact, the creator felt that it offered an unfair advantage to your team, just because you would probably know more about it than anyone else at the Hunt - but hey, there's always that going on with some puzzles). I'm wondering if it was that one.

"Pie in the Sky". Almost a gimme, but fun and exactly what I needed at that point for my morale.

I assume the puzzle you're describing is "The Deadly Hobby of Murder" which I didn't see until after the Hunt was over, and then only at a glance. When it comes up at wrapup I plan to cover my eyes and ears so it's not spoiled for me.

No - the one I'm talking about (and which you should cover your eyes & ears for during wrap up) is "Eight Not-So-Deadly" sins. Though just saying that YOU should be good at solving that one is a bit of a spoiler (for you & anyone who reads your LJ).

Glad you had fun. Will we see you at the wrapup or are you working today?

Awesome: the post-mortem is always a lot of fun. And don't worry: we've planned out how long the wrapup should take the same way we did with the Hunt. ;)

Sadly, I will not be at the wrapup. But I didn't do the Hunt, I went to Arisia, so that's OK. :-)

Oh I've got a little something to lend you -- I'll get it to you via Andrew.

Actually, if it's the item we discussed before, we've already managed to borrow it from someone else.

I happen to like time travel stories, but I thought this was going to time travel into the previous stories more, which would have been cool.

And you are so right about the toad. I couldn't stop watching.

Andrew, feel free to consider this a puzzle to solve. What are toonhead and mab talking about? :-)

Ha! Glad you like it. If only all the puzzles were on this level of difficulty ;)

You were lucky to solve with IIF. I really liked the vibe of that team when I visited for the scavenger hunt. I may be biased by their being the only team to construct a crossword cipher for us -- part of the Palindrome tradition of including things you want for yourself when creating a scavenger hunt -- but I felt the nachas there.
