Since [livejournal.com profile] abbasegal reminded me, here's a quick simplified notation of my melody for Psalm 136, which is part of the traditional seder text but for which most people lack a catchy tune. If I have time before Pesach I might notate all the verses, since the syllabification isn't always obvious.

Thanks!

I hadn't realized the last "Ki leolam chasdo" was "Havanaised"* -- in practice I can almost guarantee that we'll bounce the rhythm quarter-eighth there like in the other places it appears. I hope that won't insult the composer.

* Havanaise by Saint-Saens is a lovely piece for violin and orchestra, whose main rhythmical motif is a triplet group followed by a duplet group, like in the penultimate measure of the phrase posted.

Glad you think so. I really hope to get the whole thing posted before Pesach, because (a) the syllabification does get tricky in spots, and more importantly (b) the last two pesukim are set nonstrophicly.

(Amusingly, Firefox is suggesting a Cupertino of "catastrophically" for the last word of the preceding paragraph.)
