I spent yesterday hanging out with friends from the NPL. It was particularly gratifying to finally meet [livejournal.com profile] ericberlinblog and [livejournal.com profile] tmcay in person. Our hosts were new to both the NPL and the Boston area; they are lovely people with amazing bookshelves. (Well, the shelves were adequate, but their contents were great: lots of classic SF and Judaica.) J is finishing her dissertation at JTS on an ancient manuscript codex of the Latter Prophets; it was fascinating to hear her talk about her research. It was also amusing watching [livejournal.com profile] mabfan drool over [livejournal.com profile] toonhead_npl's iPhone.

After the event at Eureka, [livejournal.com profile] introverte and the kids joined us for ice cream and then our family hung out at the Devotion School playground and TC for dinner; following the kids' bedtime I went to a meeting of the interiors subcommittee for our synagogue's new building.

It was a wonderful day, but I got very little off my to-do list. ([livejournal.com profile] introverte and the kids, on the other hand, had a very productive day while I was gone; the portions of the house for which they are responsible are gloriously clean and, aside from the kitchen, my portions look like my college dorm room at the moment. At least [livejournal.com profile] introverte and I got the schach, decorations, and panels down from our sukkah on Saturday night; but the frame is still up and got drenched this morning.)

Anyway, after I got home I spent a few hours trying to complete the construction of a double-crostic puzzle in time to meet today's deadline for the November Enigma, and didn't get to sleep until close to 1AM.

As I was settling in to bed, I felt a cold settling in to my chest. Slept poorly, and am now dragging. I pushed too hard.
