Rosh hashanah review
Oct. 1st, 2008 08:33 pm* Kids were amazingly well-behaved in shul. I'm so proud of them. And they had lots of good questions afterwards.
* First day dvar by Danny H. about the Kol dmama v'dakah (which is usually translated as "a still small voice") which he discussed in the sense of a palpable presence. It made me think of when Zamir would make recordings, and we'd need to have five seconds of silence before each take. Imagine fifty people on creaky risers, trying to be as silent as possible --- and suddenly, they succeed: the silence can be felt, and the sense of imminent beauty is transcendent.
* Second day dvar by Ari R. about the management theory of "Responsive Management" and the "Sacrifice Syndrome" which he deftly tied in to the akedah.
* Zwetchgenküchen and Apfel-Nudel Scharlett had disappointing crusts, but tasted fine.
