Big Apple Circus
Apr. 12th, 2009 08:37 pmThis morning we had a lovely time with my parents. Tani and I started working on building the K'nex roller coaster that my sister and her family sent up with my parents as a birthday present for him; it's a lot of work but it was wonderful getting to sit down with him one-on-one for two hours of building something together; we're about 1/4 done so far. He's in charge; I help him double-check the instructions and there's one particular kind of connection that requires a little more dexterity/experience than he has right now, so I do that one for him, but other than that he's the one running the show. I've been impressed with both his patience in dealing with this project --- which can be tedious and detailed at times --- and with his ability to interpret the diagrams in the instructions.
This afternoon we took the kids, as has become our Passover custom, to the Big Apple Circus. I've loved the Big Apple Circus since we first went four years ago, but I have to say that this year's show was the best we've seen yet. Not a single act disappointed; the clown they have partnered with "Grandma" was great; the acrobats were gasp-inducingly astonishing; the dog act (all rescue puppies) was amusing; the interaction with the band was first-rate. The kids spent the whole time giggling, cheering, and shouting "wow". And so did
introverte and I. The two hours just flew by.
If you have children, or have ever been a child, RUN DO NOT WALK to Boston's City Hall Plaza through May 10, and after that to Cunningham Park at Union Turnpike and Francis Lewis Blvd. in Queens (E or F to Union Turnpike and then the Q46).
