May. 31st, 2006 10:28 pmYou are the 49th Day of the Omer

You like to see projects through to completion; but if you mess up in the middle, you just give up until next year. You feel that every day counts, but you don't lose sight of the big picture. You just bought a cheesecake, and you might lose sleep over it.

Date: 2006-06-01 01:09 pm (UTC)This also reminds me to probably write in my blog about my mom's possible conversion to Judaism in the near future. I also read back in your journal to a couple of weeks ago where you were discussing the foundation of your beliefs, and methinks I should forward some of that info to her.
My mom is disenfranchised with Lutheranism, specifically the church where she believes a lot of the people there just don't care about one another. She was also angry at God about the passing of my Dad last year. She went to social gatherings at a temple in Poughkeepsie and felt welcome. Also, recent research by a relative has uncovered evidence that my great-grandfathers siblings were Holocaust victims (in Czechoslovakia), and probably Jewish themselves.
So my mom has noble reasons for looking to convert, but I am not sure she has the discipline to really learn Hebrew or the capacity to really get up to speed, although she is doing some research. At least she is making decisoons on what she feels is best for her, and I stand behind her 100% (even if I remain goy :) ).
