Several of you have expressed interest in getting a copy of my siddur, if I ever publish it. I've been looking into short-run print prices, and they've come down enough that this is actually a possibility. (Thanks to Eric Berlin for pointing out Kickstarter, which would be a good way to actually get people to pre-order.)

So, the question is whether I should go ahead and get this thing press-ready. To gauge interest, I've created a page at www.greenehouse.com/a/siddur which includes (1) a summary of the project, (2) a link to a Picasa album of sample pages, and (3) a link to a Google survey of how much people are willing to pay. If enough people are willing to pay that it brings the price down to what they're willing to pay, I'll go ahead.

Please feel free to signal-boost this as appropriate.

That's lovely! I like your organizational scheme and use of color, and the musical cues are a nice touch. (Can't actually see those in the Picasa album, though I can see they're there.)

What is the page size? (My real question is how big the text is, but I'm not sure that knowing that it's N-point type, when all my metrics are in the Roman alphabet, would tell me if I could see it.)

Page size is half-letter. I can send you a PDF of some of the pages if you want to print them out and see how it is. (And for you I'll make a special offer --- when everything's finalized, I'd be willing to send you a PDF scaled to full-letter if you want to print and bind it yourself.)

Thanks for both offers! I'd appreciate the chance to take a look at an actual-size PDF; my email address is cellio at pobox dot com.

[livejournal.com profile] lucretia_borgia wants to know if you can show her a copy on Monday morning so she can remind herself what it looks like. (Or if you can't do it then, maybe [livejournal.com profile] introverte can show her a copy tomorrow afternoon at karate pick-up.)

We may be in for two copies. Maybe even three.

I'll try to remember. (What, the page shots on Picasa aren't good enough? :-) I have something tangentially related to return to her tomorrow morning anyway.

I know I want a copy; I have no idea how much I'd spend on it. It's an interesting question. Part of the problem is I want it for its aesthetic value, as I doubt I'd be able to use it much since there aren't any English stage directions or translation. (Which is not a flaw, as that's not the point of the siddur.)
