Proofreader's graffiti
Jul. 20th, 2006 02:45 pmA block from my office (on Athanaeum Street beftween Second and Third, if you're in the Kendall Square area) there's a new building as part of the power plant, and a series of posters on the side of the building. The posters are a sort of modern graphic design lauding the virtues of the electric company.
One of the posters features the word "RELAIBILITY" [sic]
Today I noticed someone had marked it up with the standard copyediting symbol for reversed characters.

Date: 2006-07-20 10:45 pm (UTC)i was reminded of the banner that took up the bottom third of a big bulletin board at umass/boston in december several years ago, advising those who passed of the tickets available for handle's messia. i came out of class an hour later, and someone had put a red transposition mark at the "le" and added a tiny red "h" at the end. there was no room left for a full-sized one.
