For my Boston-area readers.... Here's the official blurb for Zamir's free concert in the park in Newton Centre this coming Sunday evening.
In case you missed our June concert at Sanders Theatre (see below), now’s your chance to catch a piece of Psalmsensation (and much more)! On Sunday, July 23, join Josh Jacobson and Zamir at the free Newton Arts in the Park outdoor concert series on the Newton Centre Green (at Centre Street and Langley Road) from 6:15 to 8:15. Hear Prof. Emmett Price of Northeastern University lead his rousing gospel medley, “Joyful Noise of Praise,” and enjoy vibrant settings of Psalm 150 by Israeli composer Tzvi Avni and Brazil’s Ernesto Aguiar.
Joining the Chorale as soloist in several of his own compositions is popular cantor and songwriter Jeff Klepper, founder of Kol B’Seder. The program includes works by Randall Thompson and Shlomo Carlebach as well as popular tunes from the 1930s and ’40s, such as “Ba Mir Bistu Sheyn.” Bring a blanket, pack a picnic, and be prepared to sing along! (Note: In case of rain, the concert may be canceled.)
