Nov. 13th, 2006 01:49 pmDriving back from NYC last night was miserable. Fog, sudden rain squalls that reduced visibility to the top of the steering wheel. Four hours into the drive, I needed a good long stretch-and-walking-around break, so I got off I-84 in Buckland and went to THE MALL. I could not believe how many stores one had to drive past to get to THE MALL but eventually I found an entrance and went to the Barnes and Noble.
I don't need to tell you which section I checked out first. But what shocked me, and the reason for this post, is that while the sudoko books took up an entire shelf unit (i.e., all five shelves on one 4-foot wide segment), the crossword books took up four and a half entire shelf units. This is the first bookstore I've seen in ages where crossword books still outnumber sudoku books.
