42itous and others for a picnic on the banks of the Charles. The kids rode up and down Mem Drive (which was closed to traffic as always on Sunday) and had a blast. We got rained on a few times, but it was pleasant and cooling.
When we got home, I planned dinner --- decided to try a new recipe, potato fritters, from The Greens Cook Book. Discovered that all our potatoes had grown eyes, so I needed to run to the supermarket.... which I did by bike. Whoo-hoo! The potato fritters came out quite well, and I accompanied them with a white-bean-and-tomato stew that I made up as I went along and that was also a big hit.
Then we retired to the sun room to watch an old video of Danny Kaye and the NY Philharmonic, recorded in 1981, that I had taken out of the library. It was as funny as I remembered.
Now to tackle the crossword puzzle and go to bed.
