Just saw an online ad for a job-seek site for programmers --- with a syntax error.



(In SQL, strings are delimited by apostrophes, not double quotes.)

They must be using MySQL. :-)

String literals may be enclosed either by single or double quotes. If you wish to be ANSI compatible, you should always use single quotes.

Fine, yes, I should have said "In ANSI SQL" --- but my general attitude towards SQL is to always write to the standard when possible, because you never know when a customer's going to insist on a different server.
