One of the enduring images of my youth is Rabbi Israel Moshowitz, ztz"l, ascending the bimah on Yom Kippur clad in his black robe, dark suit, and white cloth tennies. (Wearing leather shoes is prohibited on Yom Kippur.)
Now, we have Crocs. (Actually, I don't, but I think I'm going to get a pair before next year.) The combination is just as incongruous, only now it's in Technicolor.
