[livejournal.com profile] chanaleh just posted about reminiscences of a formative Jewish-music experience. And I was commenting to [livejournal.com profile] introverte just the other night about one of my strongest formative Jewish-music experiences, which was listening to Art Raymond's show on WEVD radio for several hours each afternoon while doing homework after school. I mentioned this in passing a few months back while griping about a NYT puzzle :-), but I realize now that Raymond's show was perhaps the formative Jewish-music experience of my adolescence.

He played everything: klezmer, Yiddish theatre, chazzanut, Israeli pop, spoofs (oy, how I loved the Rechnitzer Rejects albums!) [Unlike, say, WERS, which has a Yiddish block followed by an Israeli block on Sunday mornings; or at least, they did 20 years ago.]

I miss this for my own enjoyment; I miss this for the broadening of my musical horizons; and most of all, I miss having this available for my kids.

So, LJ friends, do you know of any "internet radio stations" that play such an eclectic mix of "Jewish" music? Where are the Art Raymonds of today?

ETA: I've found YidLive which so far sounds promising. Not as broad as WEVD was, but not that insufferable electrochassidipop.
