I think the clues I posted last week were too hard. Let's try again. This puzzle works on a 4x4 grid.

Across

1. "___ A Fine Girl...." (start of a mnemonic for classes of stars)
2. Street edge in the city
3. It started on Rosh ha-Shanah
4. Necessity for making omelettes

Down

1. Musical interval that is made up of twelve semitones
2. Telling the person in the next seat to pipe down
3. What a poorly blown shofar may be doing
4. Bygone playing field in Brooklyn

I can come up with answers to some of those, but not necessarily four-letter answers. :-) (I'll be curious to see what 1D turns out to be.)

Indeed. I said it works on a 4x4 grid; I did not say that the answers are all 4 letters long. :-)

Ok, I'm confused. A "grid" does not need to fully contain the answers? How does this form work?
