Happy Purim!
Mar. 13th, 2006 04:48 pmI have no new material this year, but I do have a wider audience so here are some of my best efforts from the past.
- A Purim-themed crossword puzzle titled "The Feast of (Back) Lots" from three years ago.
- My version of Megillah 7b, a page from the Talmud. (And here is the original, so you can see why it's funny.)
An excerpted translation (really!):
One is obligated on Purim to drink until he does not know the difference between "Curse Haman!" and "Bless Mordechai!" Once, Ravah and Rabbi Zayra were making a Purim party together. One thing led to another, and Ravah killed Rabbi Zayra. On the morrow, he repented, and Rabbi Zayra was resurrected. The following year, Ravah invited Rabbi Zayra: "Come join my Purim feast!" But Rabbi Zayra replied, "No, one should not rely too often on miracles."
I love it when the Talmud does a stand-up routine.
Anyway, a freilach Purim to all!
