Talk about being on the wrong wavelength. This was my worst Thursday showing in ages.

not really related but ...

... didja time yourself on Sunday's puzzle? It's so funny how some fast solvers can solve puzzles quicker than their own authors can.

I didn't time myself but I'd estimate it took me about 12-15 minutes. Of course, there were the places in the grid and clues where Will had made changes, and given the nature of the collaboration it wasn't "my" puzzle in the way that, say, Byron Walden "owns" his.

But it would be an interesting speed-building exercise to construct grids where the "clues" are the answers, and to drill oneself on the eye-hand coordination needed to get through the mechanics of entering answers more quickly.

I don't know what the wavelength was or not, but I agree - took me 10 and change. No idea why it played so hard, it just did.

I also like the "wavelength" comment considering your nom/username...

8:20 with one error (LIS/MURISTIC instead of LIA/MURIATIC). It wasn't an easy puzzle, but it wasn't a typical Times Thursday puzzle given the word count.

Same square, different error (LIO/MURIOTIC).
