I've succumbed to my data-management urges and signed up for LibraryThing. I have not yet started entering my books in earnest, so

Date: 2007-12-09 06:59 am (UTC)In many ways it is similar to LJ, but it emphasizes using real names, so they correspondingly have a stricter access mechanism (as vettecat alludes to), but it also makes it easier to track down people whom you know.
Granted, LinkedIn is similar, and a little more "professionally" oriented, so in theory it should be able to do the same things. (And I did reconnect with a couple of people on LinkedIn, too).

It will be a long process, no doubt. The CueCat makes it much faster, though. And it would probably also be pretty efficient to work in pairs, with one person with a phone in intercom mode upstairs, reading off ISBNs, while someone else is at the computer keyboarding them.
