I don't want to be one of those parents who restrains the kids from doing fun stuff lest they damage something, but tonight I discovered that middle C on my grandmother's 1912 Knabe piano has turned pink. The kind of pink that rubs off from red-marker-stained fingers. :-(

Gentle rubbing with a damp soft cloth seems to have removed most of the stain. And we had a serious talk with the kids about washing their hands really well and drying them before playing the piano. But still....

You don't know how good you have it

My daughter had to take an instrument for school, and she begged us to upgrade from an electric keyboard to a piano. Of course, once we did, we had to have a near-screaming fight to get her to practice every day for years until she was allowed to drop it. I would have spray painted the freakin thing (which is still in my living room and has not been tuned in years) if it would have made her want to play it.

Ouch. Sorry for your pain (and conflict), I hope you can restore it.
