Some followups on yesterday....
Dec. 17th, 2007 09:38 amTurns out one more plow must have gone by after I thought they were done, because the foot of our driveway had an ice bump this morning. Fortunately, the carpool for the family across the street arrived as I was dealing with it, and they had room for Tani in their car. About five minutes later
introverte and I got the car out with a judicious combination of salt and pushing. (The bump is solid ice, there's no chance of removing it until it melts, which looks like it won't be until March. But we'd anticipated this and dug out a wider entry channel than we need, so we can steer around the bump.) Man, do I hate snow.
After listening to The Music Man, we ended up watching it. Tani was completely taken by it; he cried at the tearjerker scene just before the end and after the movie was over started marching around the house shouting "Seventy-six trombones, what comes next?" So I printed out the lyrics for him, and he continued to march around the house shout-singing it. I also took out my sheet music and played some of it for him. This morning he was still at it. So happy fiftieth birthday, Prof. Hill, you have a new fan.
Actually, one thing really bothered Tani about the movie. Why couldn't girls join the band if they wanted to? I'm glad he noticed that.
