Famous people a block from my house?
Sep. 10th, 2007 11:58 amAccording to the Newton Tab,
Actors, film crews and stage artists crowded around Bulloughs Pond Monday for the filming of The Women, starring Annette Bening, Eza Mendes and Meg Ryan.
I hope they don't have to do more filming on Thursday afternoon, when Bulloughs Pond will be the site of hundreds of Newton-area Jews performing the Tashlich ceremony. Otherwise, we'll end up with A Stranger Among Us II. (I know, that was Melanie Griffith, not Meg Ryan. And it was the Bostoner Rebbe, not the Zhviller.)

Overheard at tonight's synagogue meeting
Sep. 10th, 2007 10:48 pmThe architects were presenting the latest plans for the new building that our synagogue is planning to build. One of the elements is a twelve-paneled window, alluding to the twelve tribes.
A friend who was sitting next to me muttered "We should put in two windows, and let the ten lost tribes do their own fundraising if they want their own windows."
