Our (spoiler-free) experience in the "High School Quiz Show" studio audience

"High School Quiz Show" is a local WGBH production which is just what it sounds like. A few days ago, they sent email to WGBH members inviting us to attend a taping this weekend as part of the studio audience. We signed up for this morning's second taping. (Today they were taping two semifinals and the season finale.) ( Cut for length )

"Our" episode will air on May 8 at 7pm on WGBH. The first game of the season airs tonight at 7.

Book review: "My Nine Lives" by Leon Fleisher

Library Thing sent me a copy of Leon Fleisher's new memoir, "My Nine Lives: A Memoir of Many Careers in Music" (Doubleday, 2010) as part of their Early Reviewers program. Herewith, my review. ( Cut for length )

This is a fine book with many things to recommend it. If you're looking for Fleisher's life story, this is probably as good as any place to start. If you're looking for Fleisher's musicianship, you will be well rewarded for the time you spend with this book.
