You're not factoring in the health benefits!

Go you! I've been biking 4 miles to & from work almost every day since I started here at Molecular, and it's great. Check and see if there's any place in or near your office where showers are available. When it's very hot or rainy, they'll be a godsend.

If you don't already have a water bottle & frame, get them. 1.0 liters of water upon arrival is good, but it's great to be rehydrating during the trip as well.

Ditto to [livejournal.com profile] rikchik. It also gets faster.

Ditto to [livejournal.com profile] introverte. Also the aesthetic impact; your legs & butt will look a hell of a lot better very shortly.

I am jealous. (I live far enough from work that, if I could match your average speed, the trip would take me three hours, rather than the half-hour drive it currently is.) But I do congratulate you!

Consider in your calculation that it only took you 10 minutes to get 22 minutes of exercise. And as you get more used to it, your commuting time will likely go down. And have fun!

So it'll take you, what, 2 1/2 years to make it back? Maybe a little more, factoring in weather. Not bad.
