A nice touch in Saturday's NYT puzzle. The clue "0-198-61186-2, e.g." was clearly asking for "ISBN".... but the ISBN for what? A moment with Amazon.com revealed it to be the ISBN for the OED. (And not the dinky little two-volume set with magnifying glass.)

They'll have to change the clue in reprints of the puzzle though.

So does this mean that Bookland is being divided into North Bookland and South Bookland, and will the UN need to send in peacekeeping forces?

A puzzle we do in the Times
It often lacks reason or rhymes
Many clues are obscure
But of course, that's the lure
Think I'll mix me a gimlet with limes
