• Not only did [livejournal.com profile] tmcay and [livejournal.com profile] canadianpuzzler and I have the puzzle in yesterday's WSJ, but I found tonight that our puzzle (with [livejournal.com profile] jangler_npl) from last August is now available in The New York Times Sunday in the Sand Crosswords. We're puzzle #2 in the book.

• Today's NYT puzzle made my brain hurt. Took about 20 minutes to finally figure out what was going on, and then another 2 to realize that it wasn't alternating clues but alternating rows.

• Unfortunately, my flats this month apparently couldn't run in order, presumably for production reasons, but I will note for those who will appreciate it that my working title was "A Musical Within a Comedy Wrapped Inside The Enigma," and the set is complete. I'm not thrilled with #8, but I am deeply grateful to Crax for granting me a few extra days to finish them off and submit them.

Ohhhhh. The rows alternated? I thought it was just "some of the answers run backwards". (I'm not very clever.)

Interesting that the cover of "Sunday in the Sand" gives a hint to the theme of that crossword.

At first I thought it was going to be whatever corresponding streets are two-way in NYC.
