Spring is here,
Spring is here.
Life is skittles and life is beer.
(Not that I like Skittles or beer. But I need spring.)

I think the loveliest time of the year is the spring. I do. Don't you? Course you do!

But there's one thing that makes Spring complete for me, and makes every Sunday a treat for me...
Skittles?

What do you think he meant by Skittles? The candy wasn't made before 1973; the album was recorded in 1959. Informal chess? Bowling?

Skittles is nine-pins bowling and was a popular pub game in 19th century England. The phrase "beer and skittles" to refer to having fun goes back to at least Dickens.

Note that I distinguished between the "skittles" of the lyric and "Skittles" in my comment.

That's why I don't usually comment on your posts - you are always a few steps ahead...

All the world seems in tune on a spring afternoon, when we're poisoning pigeons in the park.

I no longer believe it's spring until we get through April Fool's Day without 2 feet of snow...
But it is definitely looking promising. The croci in my garden are blooming.

Every Sunday you'll see my sweetheart and me as we poison the pigeons in the park.
