Blank Verse Blog Week
Apr. 19th, 2009 07:47 amOh, right, it's Blank Verse Blog Week once again,
When many people write their posts like this
To honor William Shakespeare for the week
When falls his natal anniversary.
I've done this twice before, and looking back
I find it makes my posts less readable.
And since the point of blogging's to be read,
And not just to show off our cleverness,
I think, this year, I'll post in prose instead.

Date: 2009-04-19 05:27 pm (UTC)Thank you. Perhaps I am simply an am ha-aretz or something, but "blank verse" always strikes me simply as "wrote prose and injected random whitespace". I don't see the art or craft in it; all it does is make the content harder to read. Structured poetry can be quite nice, but "blank" or "free" verse, to me, is a hurdle without off-setting good.
