We hooked up with [livejournal.com profile] sethg_prime and his kids at 10am for the nature walk through the Alewife Brook Reservation that was part of the annual Cambridge Science Festival. (And, I mean, how cool is that? A city-wide week-long festival celebrating science!!!!) It was fun and informative; the kids seemed to enjoy it; I learned what phragmites is and how to pronounce it --- apparently it's not just the username of an LJ-friend-in-law.

Afterwards we went to Fresh Pond Reservoir with our picnic lunch and bikes. Passed by one of my former co-workers from Bitstream who was walking her dog; we exchanged only the briefest of pleasantries before Alissa rode off, compelling me to follow. After one lap of the pond, Tani wanted to go around a second time, and I agreed to go with him. It was a great day for it.

Then we went to JPLicks to, um, rehydrate, yeah, that's it :-) and then home for a well-deserved period of lying down and recovering.

Items on to-do list accomplished: zero. Day: completely well spent.

Thanks for the hook-up! My kids enjoyed the walk, too, and I wouldn't have been able to wrangle all three of them without another adult.
