Tonight I transferred about 4GB of music onto our new Garmin GPS, and then I went to play a song to test it out. And I learned that the Garmin hangs if it needs to display a string that is entirely Hebrew. So much for playing "רק בישראל", which has some really great stuff on it. (Well, I'll retag those songs on the Garmin.)

Kind of ironic for a device whose main function is providing directions. Apparently right-to-left isn't one it likes.

Well, Arabic is one of the options for the onscreen display, so I suspect it's not a question of RTL as much as missing glyphs. [I'll leave unasked the question of why it offers Arabic and many other non-Western languages but not Hebrew.]

Perhaps they figure Israel is so small no one needs a GPS there. ;-)
