A Simpsons moment

My car was significantly damaged in a rear-end collision last week. (Thank God, no one was seriously injured.) I was looking over the damage appraisial; one of the items is

Repl Emblem "H" factory installed $13.67

and all I could think of was Superintendant Chalmers "crying like a baby"

Honda or Hyundai?

Each one of my 3 Hondas I've had lifetime have been in one accident. In 1997, my first one was totaled. I however have the license plate frame and "H" hood ornament as "souveniers" and still plan to make some memorial plaque to it all these years later.

The mom of a one-time girlfriend of mine had some repairs done to her car once upon a time, and it came back from the shop reading "HODNA". She—a professional copy editor—only noticed some months later. That was when she formulated what she called the Hodna Principle: that even when there is an error, you're gonna see what you expect to see.
