NYT puzzle production

I have a question for people who do the NYT in the paper... is it me, or have we started seeing some weird halftone effects this week? Has Will started providing "camera-ready copy" that's getting scanned in, or faxed, or some such? It's VERY distracting when the clues and the grid are shimmering....

I do the NYT puzzle in the paper (in NYC) and it's been no different this week than any other week.
