In that same discussion, and mentioned in that article, was Hagar Yanai and her series, including Halivyatan mi-Bavel ("The Leviathan of Babylon") and its sequel Hamayim she-bein ha-Olamot ("The Water Between the Worlds"). Both are only available in Hebrew, apparently, but are supposed to be excellent fantasy literature set in an alternate history in which Babylon never fell.
Now that I'm chair of the CST Library committee,
sdavido recommended that I look into joining The Association of Jewish Libraries.
I need to double-check some instances of sh'va in my siddur.
