I don't usually do this, but:

Why there is no Jewish Narnia from the Jewish Review of Books. [livejournal.com profile] sethg_prime and [livejournal.com profile] mabfan mentioned this to me.

In that same discussion, and mentioned in that article, was Hagar Yanai and her series, including Halivyatan mi-Bavel ("The Leviathan of Babylon") and its sequel Hamayim she-bein ha-Olamot ("The Water Between the Worlds"). Both are only available in Hebrew, apparently, but are supposed to be excellent fantasy literature set in an alternate history in which Babylon never fell.

Now that I'm chair of the CST Library committee, [livejournal.com profile] sdavido recommended that I look into joining The Association of Jewish Libraries.

I need to double-check some instances of sh'va in my siddur.

A friend of ours who is returning to Israel is supposed to be bringing me copies of Hagar Yanai's Leviathan books. Now I just have to get Nomi to translate them for me. :-)

Thanks for the relink to the Jewish Narnia article; I'd lost track of the link, if you can believe it.

I'm considering requesting the Yanai books via ILL, but I don't think I could finish them before they'd be due back, and ILLs aren't renewable.

If we end up owning them, you'd be welcome to borrow them.
