A new crossword game
Sep. 1st, 2010 09:33 pmOK, who here loved 47D in today's NYT puzzle? Spolier space for the inevitable FB cross-post here.......
Isn't that just like the French? Take an old word with just a soupçon of sophistication and snobbishness and apply it to the mundane detritus of modern life? But hey, this could redeem ETUI, right?
It got me thinking --- what other old horrible crosswordese could be redeemed by repurposing? I'm going to start by nominating ESNE to mean "someone who is bound to their employer because they need the health insurance and have a pre-existing condition."
Your turn.

Date: 2010-09-05 02:17 am (UTC)I suggest making each clue its own post, and using cut tags, so that someone who wants help with a particular clue doesn't get spoiled on any of the others.
As to whether I'd like to be a contributor, I think I'm going to have to take a pass right now --- I'm terribly overscheduled for the next few months. But ask me again in November!
In the meantime, if you're serious about this, I'd be happy to give you a signal boost to the National Puzzlers' League.
