So I get to the bakery ten minutes after they open to buy our special challahs for Rosh ha-Shanah, and the line is already way out the door. No problem, I was expecting this, I brought the Times. I open to the puzzle, pull out my pen, and look at 1-Across.

"How odd," I think, "It's the same clue as yesterday."

Then I realize that it's a production error. They reran [livejournal.com profile] stellavision's puzzle from yesterday.

I briefly considered whipping through the entire puzzle in two minutes just to impress the others waiting on line. :-) Then I realized that would be rude. So I simply read the paper.

But now I'm going to have to catch up on three time-consuming puzzles after the holiday, instead of just two. Unless the Times allows the general public to download today's puzzle because of the production error.

I noticed that this morning, when I left the puzzle for [livejournal.com profile] saxikath.

If you want them to offer the puzzle as a free download today, you might suggest it in the forum.

Been there, done that. Other reports have come in from Washington that they had the same problem.

Really? Can I be the only person in the world who's happy about this?

I forgot to pick up a copy of the paper yesterday.

It seems from [livejournal.com profile] jeffury's comment that the New York edition has the correct puzzle today... but if you want, I can mail you the relevant page from the Boston edition. (You can send your contact info to my NPL address, which can be derived from my lj user id and the NPL domain name. Take that, spambot email address harvesters!)
