I've been getting a lot of anonymous spam comments the last few weeks. So, with regret, I'm changing the comment policy on this blog to only allow comments from registered users.

I've been getting a lot of that in the last few weeks too, so I switched my settings so anonymous comments are screened. How irritating -- I want to invite open discussion, but because of some problem children it can be only semi-open.

I don't think that's unreasonable.

If you used Wordpress, Akismet would solve that problem for you automatically. :-)

This only became a problem about two weeks ago. I also noticed a sever upsurge in spam email that my filters were catching around the same time. I suspect a new group has started operation, and they've figured out how to get past the LiveJournal filters. For now.

Does Wordpress allow me to friends-lock entries using OpenID? That's the main reason I'm still on LiveJournal. (I tried switching to DreamWeaver but their OpenID client implementation was flawed.)

It took awhile, but I finally managed to get one of the other ways to log in to work without creating a full-blown LJ account.

JFYI,
Julie :-)
