rhuWe were supposed to visit my parents in New York for Shabbat. (We last saw them for Passover and we won't see them again until July; this was the only weekend in between that we were both free.)
Had I listened to a traffic report before we left, we would have known about the methane truck that turned over on the Mass. Pike this morning, closing it in both directions. We would have taken I-95 the whole way, and probably arrived right about now.
Instead, we spent three hours driving 25 miles, then two hours driving back.
I wasted a vacation day, we're scrambling for Shabbat plans, and we don't get to see my folks (and they don't get to spend time with the grandkids). All because I couldn't be bothered to find out about the leading news story in Boston today.
At least the kids were cooperative in the car. This could have been much, much worse.
