Two more loose ends
Jan. 4th, 2009 03:49 pm• At Masada, we bought pre-packaged sandwiches for lunch. Mine had ink-jet-printed on the wrapper, next to the date, "The vegetables are heter mechirah" (in Hebrew, of course). The things you don't think about before you get here. [Basically, the year that just ended a few months ago was a Sabbatical year, and heter mechirah is one of the ways to get kosher vegetables during a Sabbatical year.]
• You may recall that I bought an MSI Wind netbook before the trip; it's what I've been using for this blogging and photo uploading, and it has lived up to expectations. In one of the stores we were in today, I noticed that the owner had the same model, except that (of course) hers has Hebrew-English keycaps on the keyboard. I'm jealous. (Yes, I know they make stickers, but I don't like their feel; and I'm not going to add a USB keyboard to a netbook; that would be silly.)
