Periodic Project Progress Post
Aug. 4th, 2010 10:52 pmParenting - A lot of work going into this project, and the results continue to be gratifying.
The Siddur - Lots of progress here, just not any closer to being done. I've streamlined the process of compositing the music into the text block; the new work is that in revising the music files to be formatted consistently I've had to change the size of many of them, which disrupts the page layout. Plus there are a few more places where I'm adding music, plus I've added a few more text blocks in response to advance-reader feedback (such as Kiddusha Rabba and Akdamut), plus I've been privileged to be able to work with a co-congregant who is a professor of Jewish liturgy on re-working the Al Hanissim for Yom ha-Hatzmaut.... so the next edition is going to be at a whole 'nother level, even if it's taking months longer than I had originally budgeted. But it will be so worth it
KabShab - The demo recording fell through due to insurmountable logistical problems. I may try again in the autumn, but in the meantime I'm going to move ahead with my plan B, which is to try to get it sung in at least a few synagogues on next winter's Shabbat Shirah. (Stay tuned, as they say, for details.) Alas, I had been hoping to use the demo recording to help pitch that, and now it's gotten to be a bit late, since most chorus directors will have already selected repertoire for next year. But I'll try.
Puzzles - Sent another crossword in to Will this week; working on a few other crosswords as well as a few novelty puzzles. Consulting with The Esplanade Association on writing a site-specific trivia hunt that will run this autumn in honor of the Esplanade's centennial, which is pretty awesome.
Dafcast - I was doing a little technical work on this, but didn't get as far as I wanted. Being ready for the start of the next Daf cycle is now in serious jeopardy.
PDZ, Bible Bystanders, Sevendeck - No progress.
