I wonder....

Does UPS have so many packages coming to Cambridge via Hartford that they pre-load the truck there and just mark the whole truck when they switch drivers in Somerville?

That could very well be the case.

It's also possible that they don't always to scan things on arrival if they're going right back out and the system auto-fills the arrival. "It's leaving here, so it must have arrived here at some point, so I'll just file a minute-back audit for that." I've had to write similar logic.
